About Aquasource Drilling
Our History
Aquasource Drilling has served Montana since 1983, when the company got its start in Choteau, Montana. Over the decades, it has grown from a small drilling operation into the full-service groundwater company it is today. In 2014, current owners Tyrel and Tobi Hlavnicka purchased Aquasource’s Montana assets, re-incorporating as Aquasource Drilling in 2015 and relocating to the Great Falls area. Under their leadership, the company has expanded well beyond drilling alone, growing into deep water well drilling, full well pump service, water treatment, and excavation.
Leadership
Aquasource Drilling is owned and operated by Tyrel and Tobi Hlavnicka. Tyrel grew up in the water well industry and went on to study Petroleum Engineering, where he met his wife, Tobi. Tyrel holds a degree in Drilling Engineering with a specialization in Montana hydrology, and has built a career analyzing well logs, satellite images, geological maps, and historical data to identify optimal drill locations. Tobi holds a master’s degree in Construction Project Management and brings years of construction experience to overseeing large-scale projects, subcontractor coordination, and timelines. Together, they lead a team equipped to manage a groundwater project from initial site consulting through drilling, pumping, and long-term maintenance.

Licenses & Certifications
Aquasource Drilling is a licensed Water Well Contractor (#199), and our team is state licensed and insured as water well drillers, septic installers, and Montana contractors. We hold the necessary licenses to perform septic system installation in Cascade, Lewis & Clark, Teton, Judith, and Fergus Counties. Aquasource is recognized by:
Equipment & Capabilities
Aquasource Drilling maintains a fleet and equipment lineup built for projects of every scale, from a single residential well to large municipal and livestock systems. Our capabilities include:
- Trucks of every size, capable of servicing pumps as deep as 3,000 feet
- Pump hoists and cranes for setting municipal pumps as deep as 1,700 feet and as powerful as 150 HP, including equipment that can navigate tight spaces or pull through buildings when needed
- Premium Grundfos solar pump packages for off-grid and remote installations
- Excavation machinery capable of handling up to 40,000 lbs, plus compactors, a road grader, dozer, and rollers for site work and road building
